Sentinel 1 prototype, protects agriculture against airborne pests and diseases
Sept 2019
Dematec Automation designed and manufactured the first prototype for the iMapPESTS: Sentinel Surveillance Agriculture research project. This technology is aimed at boosting on-farm pest management through rapid and accurate monitoring and reporting of airborne pests and diseases that affect Australia’s crops.
A key feature of iMapPESTS is the custom-designed, mobile surveillance unit called Sentinel 1, that is designed to offer automated sampling technology optimised for collecting airborne fungal spores and insects.
The prototype is a fully automated surveillance unit, equipped with smart trapping devices for monitoring airborne spores and insects; robotics change the samplers according to the day or capture criteria.
Complete with a self-contained power supply enabling unattended operation for extended periods, climate sensors and industrial Internet Of Things connectivity to remotely monitor and control the system.
